St. Thomas Carnival
St. Thomas Carnival (various points within Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas) – like other parts of the Caribbean, the U.S. Virgin Islands also has its own carnival festivities. However, unlike many Caribbean islands (which tend to hold such events in February), St. Thomas throws off its own version every April (after Easter). Calypso shows, food fairs, queen pageants, steel pan shows, parades and more are typically what’s expected there.
Interestingly, the other two Virgin Islands hold separate carnival events: St. John hold its carnival every late June (going into the July 4th holiday weekend), and St. Croix during the Christmas/New Year period.
