Fort Christian

Fort Christian (Waterfront Highway, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas) – this is St. Thomas’ oldest building (built between 1672 and 1680, and overlooks Charlotte Amalie harbor). The colonial powers put it to various uses: as a jail, governor’s residence, town hall, courthouse, and even as a church. A clock tower was added during the 19th century. With renovations completed, it currently has U.S. National Landmark status.
